Frontier Models As we anticipated, Google announced their Gemini 4 Argon model this week. Alphabet says its built to sustain deep reasoning across complex, long-horizon workflows. It’s last flagship model was way back in February and it’s difficult to understand what took them seven months to launch another one. We’ll know more on post October 1st after cybersecurity testing, but the first signs look promising. It appears to truly put Astra GPT-6 behind us. Astra OpenAI’s frontier model was only seemingly frontier for 19 days, before Opus 5.5 was announced. Google Gemini-4 ArgonMeanwhile in the span of 2026 Google saw another huge exodus of top AI researchers (e.g. DiscoveryLoop) and talent. It’s also not clear if Google will have an answer for the personal assistant wars of Muse, Instinct, Grok Bot and Dots.
